Painted Ladies

I have several Buddleia shrubs in my garden which are just now coming into bloom.  The common name for this plant is the Butterfliy Bush – it is well named as it is most attractive to butterflies and other insects.  My goal for today was to try and take some good pictures of the butterflies enjoying the nectar of the flowers.  These are the very common Australian Painted Lady or Vanessa kershawi, of which there are hundreds in the garden.

As usual, all were taken with the Canon EOS 550D and the Macr0 100mm f/2.8 lens, using a tripod.

  1. As usual Sue great shots, my fave would be the fourth down. Great dof and the blue behind the wings is really nice. Wish I had time at the moment to take some serious shots, soon I hope..
